“... those portraits accumulated over the years were the album of humanity that had inhabited the perimeter of the world measured by his steps.”
(Pino Aprile)
–“Once upon a time... –
– A king! – my little readers will say right away.
No, children, you are mistaken. Once upon a time there was a piece of wood.
It was not a fancy piece of wood, but a simple piece of firewood, the kind that in winter is put in stoves and fireplaces to light
the fire and warm the rooms.”
(Carlo Collodi)
The lines of the drawing, those of the wood grain, the search for the subject, the path that leads to the representation: everything merges and blends, is created and harmonized in a final result that is the fusion between the realism of the composition and the abstraction of the wood grain. When the support is as important as
the drawing, when the search turns the wood’s flaws into strengths,
the final result is always different, unique like the raw material, like the PORTRAITS, like the artistic act that made their creation possible.
Academic training teaches the proportions of the human body, in an absolute and didactically necessary balance, but far from what beauty is to me: not an ideal without flaws, but rather what in the imperfect becomes alive, unique, and wonderful.
The sense, understood as direction, of my research is oriented, as in these works, to the synthesis of the lines on the PORTRAITS, of lights and shadows, of material and vision... of everything that, in my opinion, contributes to the harmony of a living artifact, warm like the old wood that in turn becomes a new possibility to foster the encounter between the PORTRAITS and those who observe them.

Philosophy
The watercolor technique on wood stands out for its ability
to enhance the natural beauty of the wood grain through a vibrant explosion of colors. Each work becomes a unique
and unrepeatable piece, where the harmony between the material and the painting creates an unparalleled visual experience.
The lines of the drawing, those of the wood grain, the search for the subject, the journey that leads to the representation:
everything merges and blends, is created and harmonized in a final result that is the fusion between the realism of the composition and the abstraction of the wood grain. When the support is as important as the drawing, when the research transforms the wood's flaws into qualities
the final result is always different, unique like the raw material, like the PORTRAIT subjects, like the artistic act that
made their creation possible.

Technique
Born in Naples on January 1, 1967, after attending art high school he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in his city.
During his education and career he experimented with different forms of expression, but it is in watercolor on wood that he found his most authentic dimension, transforming it into the distinctive hallmark of his artistic research.
His works have been exhibited in Italy, the United States, and Spain, attracting interest and appreciation in both national and international contexts.
Since 2025, one of his works has been on permanent display at
the Filangieri Museum in Naples.
